Arbor vitae

Today was the first not crazy hot day in a long time and it was the first day after a rain in awhile. So, I decided to take advantage and dig up two arbor vitae trees. Both were taller than I and a little harder than I expected to dig.

I don't love them. But I am trying to use what I have. So, I moved them from where they were sort of silly doing nothing on the north side of the house to grouped together on the south side of the house, where I hope they are sort of providing an entrance to the backyard from that side. Or they will once there is a gate and a fence.

May Days

At the risk of alienating my dear Chicago friends, I’ve changed my moving-to-Nashville blog to a Nashville garden blog. Now, as they sit in the 50-degree weather, they can read about how I ate my first blueberry from my garden on MAY 22!

Seriously, things have already come and gone in the garden this year: irises, which I did not plant (they were here, state flower of Tennessee), peonies, etc. The magnolia is from a tree I added.



I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how many plants I moved from Chicago are thriving. the cheddar cheese flower I bought with Judy last year just popped. The clematis is breathtaking.
